Silver Dollar City Foundation has long been established as the philanthropic arm of the award winning 1880s theme park, Silver Dollar City. Settled in the heart of the Ozarks, Silver Dollar City was founded by the Herschend family, Mary and Hugo and their two sons, Jack and Peter.
What we know of Silver Dollar City today began with Marvel Cave tours, a humble venture that soon blossomed into the vibrant tapestry of the world-class theme park. Amidst the thrills and laughter, however, the Herschend family never forgot their roots and what it really meant to care for one another. Under Mary’s compassionate leadership, the park fostered a culture of giving back. As early as 1975, profit-sharing became a cornerstone of their philosophy, a tangible expression of gratitude for the hard work and dedication of their employees.
In 1996, a new chapter unfolded as the Silver Dollar City Foundation was founded, a dedicated arm carrying forth the legacy of care and investment into the region. Born from a desire to deepen their ties to the Ozarks, the Foundation dedicated itself to Stone and Taney counties, extending its reach throughout the community.
With each passing year, the Foundation’s commitment grew stronger, its impact reaching far and wide. As time shifted, so too did the Foundation’s focus. Today, its mission is clear – to nurture the hearts and minds of the children and families of Stone and Taney counties, ensuring a brighter future for generations to come.
Silver Dollar City Foundation continues to weave the threads of compassion and kindness throughout the community, stitching together a tapestry of hope and opportunity. In the heart of the Ozarks, where the echoes of laughter mingle with the rustle of the leaves, there lies a legacy of care – a legacy forged by the Herschend family and carried forth by Silver Dollar City Foundation. And though the years may pass, the spirit of giving will forever remain a testament to the power of community and the enduring magic of Silver Dollar City.
